Easter Weekend in Esports

This year, Peter Cottontail brought more than candy and treats to Weatherford, Oklahoma. This time, a double-header Halo Infinite and Call of Duty Championship was tucked away in Peter’s bag of Easter joy. This Easter Weekend, the 16th and 17th of April, OG Evolution Media teamed up with Oklahoma Scholastic Esports and Brian Morris to host an intense two-title high school tournament for youth all over the state. Over 20 small-town high school teams were able to show up and throw down to see who would emerge victorious over their competitors. After hours of intense play, Blair Highschool, from southwestern Oklahoma, were the back-to-back Call of Duty champions and first-time champions for Halo Infinite.

To give the competition the real Easter Season spirit, OG Evo Media’s own Johnny “IcyChiller” Weaver barbecued for all the competitors, which was a big hit with the kids! Also, in an incredible strike of Easter luck, Johnny was serendipitously united with another Esports enthusiast from his hometown. What are the odds? Matthew Whitaker, a former teacher from Johnny’s hometown, was there as a coach for his team, Olustee-Eldorado, which wa only 2 points away from pulling gold. However, although they didn’t get gold, Olustee-Eldorado was lucky enough to have Jayden Almanza, who won Tournament MVP. The tournament was fantastic, and one thing is for sure: it was far better than anything the Easter Bunny could have brought without the help of Oklahoma Scholastic Esports and OG Evolution Media.
