Esports at Drury University
As many ready themselves for Spring Break, gamers rush to squeeze in every last Esports event they can find. Luckily for them, on March 5th Drury University, in collaboration with Unified Sports Association, held a fantastic conference in Springfield, Missouri, sending gamers into their Spring Breaks with a bang. The conference boasted not only giveaways, cosplay, event quests, and virtual reality, but it also had open bracket events of TEN title games, including Valorant, League of Legends, Halo, Super Smash Bros, and more! Players of all skill levels were invited to participate, but the fierceness of the competition was pro-level. With over 5,000 dollars in cash prizes up for grabs and plenty of impressive gameplay, participants and spectators alike were clamoring to secure their spots for the day.
In order to ensure that this would be an experience like no other, the Unified Sports Association cultivated a “unique gaming environment” with props, professional cosplayers, and a unique Quest system to navigate the venue and score bonus points. OG Evo Media’s own Johnny Weaver participated in the setup and teardown of the event, also helping to run 4 of the 10 events! Finally, 8 colleges battled it out on the main stage for 20,000 dollar round robins. This, along with the main Esports titles, made for an amazing two days for everyone in attendance.
