Esports Over The Holidays

As winter creeps in and slows the world down with its chill, professional esports leagues and competitive gamers take their break as they prepare for the new year. However, the great part about esports is that, although competitions are scarce throughout the holidays, opportunity to both practice and play for leisure is plentiful.

Gone are the days where winter meant breaking out the board games for some semi-forced family time and gross hot chocolate made with water instead of milk. Now, for college students and working adults alike, it is time to hide away from extended periods of time with family members, or maybe even play together if you’re feeling generous. Just keep in mind that all of your friends are likely online right now, so you probably need to get on…

Whether you’re playing some Valorant, CS:GO, or maybe even just catching up on some nostalgic games from your youth, here’s our only advice: be nice to your family when you tell them the only Christmas gift you want is an undisturbed kill streak… and maybe a new monitor. If after all of this time to game by yourself you’re still in desperate need of help for your chronic tournament withdrawal, then maybe look into some remote options. COVID wasn’t good for a lot, but it sure boosted at-home options for when you’re lacking in physical competitions. A quick google search later and you’ll be back to yelling at randos over discord, if only just to tide you over until the season gets back into full swing. If worst comes to worst, just wait out the transition into 2022, because your competitive calendar is probably already filling up.
